Contracted service partnerships help maximize impact by supporting our efforts to get larger quantities of diapers into the community quickly and efficiently.
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
PDX Diaper Bank began providing contracted services to the community in 2020, as a way to address the skyrocketing diaper need in the community due to the economic impacts of COVID-19. Contracted partnerships greatly support PDX Diaper Bank’s efforts by helping us distribute increased quantities of diapering to the community quickly and efficiently. A unique project budget is created for each partnership, which includes discounted material costs for our partners (diapers and baby wipes) – all with the benefit that 100% goes back into PDX Diaper Bank to strengthen its programs and support even more children and families in our community.
IMPACT
In 2021, as a result of this program, PDX Diaper Bank supported an additional 56 agencies through a variety of city/county contracts allowing us to strategically expand emergency outreach to families and communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Through this initiative, PDX Diaper Bank distributed nearly 1.2 million diapers to families in need; approximately 75% of the agencies supported were BIPOC-led and supported communities of color through culturally specific programming.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Distributing diapering supplies through our network of social service organizations ensures that diapers are reaching children and families who truly need them. In 2021, approximately 13% of PDX Diaper Bank’s services supported families experiencing houselessness. Partnership also provides agencies with a resource – diapers – they are frequently unable to provide via their programs. Diapers are a basic need as well as a necessity for optimal health. Embedding these resources into existing programs increases the impact of wrap-around support for families, making diapers a more equitable and available resource for families experiencing poverty.
